Watch: Video Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Lucasfilm Animation
“Cheers to 20 years of Lucasfilm Animation.” Lucasfilm has revealed a tribute video celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the animation side of Star Wars production company Lucasfilm. The animation division was originally launched in 2005 to develop and produce the first Star Wars animated movie – The Clone Wars, which opened in theaters in 2008 (we actually covered this release way back when!). In the 20 years since then, they’ve gone on to create and launch numerous successful TV series including Star Wars Rebels, Resistance, The Bad Batch, LEGO Star Wars, Tales of the Jedi, and much more. In addition to celebrating these past two decades of animation, the video also very quickly introduces their latest creation – a Darth Maul series coming soon. “Maul – Shadow Lord, an all-new Star Wars animated series.” The final shot in this below shows the new Maul with his red saber, voiced by Sam Witwer; it takes place after the events of The Clone Wars.
